Yes, Lord, let the garden of your people be beautiful, fragrant, and fruitful…
Holy Spirit, blow on us. Let your breath bring new life to our hearts. Breathe heard enough on our lives to clear away the dead things clinging onto us, but gentle enough that the blossoms that are coming out are protected. Our desire is that the garden of our lives be pleasing to you. You have given us this precious gift, a calling to be gardeners over an eternal garden of our very own. You equip us to tend to it; to nurture the life that you have planted in us and to see them grow and produce.
We want to make you proud, Father. We want to see the fruit of the garden of our lives bring glory to you. We want to watch you bite into a plumb morsel of love and laugh as the juice runs down your beard. We want to see your eyes light up as you taste the sweet flavor of our kindness and gentleness. Our hearts yearn to hear you ooo and aah over the height of the faithfulness that has grown in our gardens, and to see you rest in the shaded canopy of peace that envelopes us.
These are secret gardens, Lord, but the world around us naturally benefits from the fruit of them. Holy Spirit, let the abundance and fragrance of the gardens of our lives bring joy and life to everyone around us. We know that this will make you smile as well. We ask this, not for our glory, but for yours, Jesus.
