A Prayer To Watch My Mouth

Sweet Jesus, sometimes I can’t believe what comes out of mouth! Help me to control the things that I saw:

Psalms 141:3 Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips.

A silly selfie of Jonathan covering his mouth There’s so much in your Word about how it’s important to watch my mouth. “The mouth speaks what the heart is full of,” (Luke 6:45) “no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison,” (James 3), and “It’s what comes out of a person’s mouth that makes them unclean,” (Matthew 15:11) are just a few.

I can’t tame my tongue on my own, Lord. I need your Spirit’s help. Thank you for the self control that you’ve instilled in me. Help me to choose control. Help me to swallow my pride and forgo the last work or that hurtful, needling insult. Kill passive aggressive language while it’s still in my brain before it ever reaches my mouth.

Protect my mouth from agreeing with the enemy’s lies. Make me painfully aware of the profound meaning and power of every word that comes out of my mouth. If I speak life-giving words, help me to see the fruit that comes about as a result. Likewise, teach me to see the ramifications of words of death. When I sin and say things that help the enemy’s plan to kill and destroy, give me the awareness and courage to break that agreement and make amends. Make my words the words of a peacemaker, Holy Spirit!

You gave me a mouth for a reason. Like a father entrusting his son with his tools, you gave us mouths because you have work to do and you know that we can do good things with these powerful mouths if we surrender our hearts to you. I want my mouth to honor you, Jesus.

Jesus, one of the powerful uses for our mouths is to pray and that’s what we’re going to do right now. We bless these people and lift up their prayer requests to you:

My daughter Dana only weighs 78lbs since she has so much damage from radiation and is unable to eat by mouth. Please pray that she gains weight and gets stronger and is able to come off the pain medication.

Yes, Lord. Help Donna’s daughter, Dana, in the USA to gain weight. We speak healing over her body and believe that she will be strengthened day by day and will be freed from the need for pain medication.

Lord, bring peace to Alina’s marriage and protect her:

Please pray for me. My husband is a great man and we love each other very much. Yesterday, I did/said something that he felt disrespected him as my husband. He grabbed me by the arm and threw me to sit on the bed. As I protested that he laid a hand on me, he slapped me in the face, for the first time ever. He also pushed my face away. As he was yelling, with spit flying from his mouth, I resisted and wanted to get up. He pushed me on the bed again, his whole body blocking me as he screamed. He pushed his finger into my forehead.

I want you to please pray for us, because the fit was so sudden after the most lovely amazing day, so sudden in one moment that I profoundly believe that he was physically influenced by a demon. Just like our community, I believe in spiritual warfare, and I know my husband. He has more faith than me. He is the one who brought me to God in the first place, for which I am forever thankful. But though we are both saved, I know that demons try to attack whatever weaknesses they can find especially in Christian households. If they see a happy marriage and two people who love the Lord, they will try to attack. Do you think that it is a real possibility that a Demon of violence has influenced my husband last night?

I took some blankets and slept on the floor in the living room, with my Bible next to my pillow. The tears of pain were so overwhelming that I just silently let them fall from my body in shock, as I begged God to show my husband the face of the demon that had just influenced him, so that he would be horrified by what he had just committed and realize what he had done. Please, PLEASE Pray for me the same thing. If this doesn’t happen, I don’t want to live. I don’t know what to do because I cannot take anymore pain in my life. My husband is my everything.

God, thank you for praying, faith-filled wives like Alina. We pray against any demonic influence over her husband. Bring him to a place of repentance and heal their marriage. Strengthen them to a place of new-found intimacy and gentleness.

Pray that God will answer our earnest prayer. Lord please shut the mouth of those who are against us. Have mercy on us. Our neighbors are quarreling with us since 2 years. Pray that our Lord will fight the battle and protect us.

Bring healing to our sister Tami’s marriage in Arizona:

I need prayers for my husband. He has been ill for almost a week now and he is not a very nice person when he is suffering. He wants everyone around him to suffer with him. He says some pretty mean things when he is ill. First of all I need prayers for a fast recovery from being nauseated, vomiting and being in pain. Then I need prayers for him to ask for help instead of yell and scream at the people who loves him and call them names. Please ask for peace and calmness and to take the nastiness and hate out of his heart and his mouth. I would be grateful if the hate could be taken out of his heart. He claims to love God and believes that he will be going to Heaven. I try to explain to him that it’s the devil that is making him behave this way. I am asking that Satin get behind us and leave us alone. I do not want him anywhere near me or my family. Thank you so much. Each and every prayer is greatly appreciated.

I ask that whomever reads that please pray to God that my two teeth on the upper right side of my mouth are healed and cured of these two abscesses and that the main one with the biggest abscess will be miraculously healed (its broken) and not need to be extracted.
