Purity of Heart and Mind
Holy Spirit, examine our hearts and minds. Expose any dirty parts. We having parts of us that still flare in anger during traffic; parts that we have been slow to turn over to you; parts that entertain lustful thoughts. God, to be honest, we're scared at the thought of what you might find, but these things keep us from a closer relationship with you. Find them, Holy Spirit, and yank them out by the roots. Help us to be obedient in opening ourselves up to your correction, and help us to immerse ourselves in you every day to prevent these dark parts of our hearts from growing back. We love you, Jesus, and we want to be more like you. Thank you for walking right beside us, every step of the way. Father, help us to stay focused on the spirit realm. Of course, there are day to day matters of life, and you told us to occupy until you return, but when we focus on you and our true purpose for being here, it affects our attitude toward the daily matters of life. Holy Spirit, show us when we're becoming consumed by earthly things at the expense of spiritual awareness. Help us to remember why we're on this planet: to live for Jesus. We love you, Lord. Our Great Life
God, thank you that even in the face of challenges that the world would consider catastrophic, we can still have joy and know that our lives are truly great. We don't need to be remembered on earth. We don't need to be rock stars or movie stars in order to feel that we've accomplished something in life. Our worth comes from you, Father, and there is nothing worthier than you. Our goal is to lay a spiritually valuable life at your feet, and to some day hear you say, "Well done!" And all we need to do is love you and listen to your voice. It's not easy, but it is simple. God, Protect Us After Victory
Lord, when we celebrate a victory with you, that's when Satan would like to swoop in and steal the victory from us. We are so afraid of being complacent. We need you, Jesus. We can't live by ourselves. We cling to you. We don't want to be lax in our relationship with you. Protect us from temptation. If we're attacked by Satan, help us to remember to respond in the Spirit by dropping to our knees and recognizing the situation for what it is rather than just falling into despair.
