Self Control and Other Fruits of the Spirit
Holy Spirit, we need you so desperately. Thank you for giving us your fruits. Thank you for the knowledge that, with your help, we can have more self control than the rest of the world. We just need to lean on you. When we come to the brink of anger, fear, lust, or even the temptation to overeat, we can call on your name for help. We want our immediate reaction in the face of those things to be to fall to our knees and call out to you. Transform our hearts, Holy Spirit. Purity of Heart and Mind
Holy Spirit, examine our hearts and minds. Expose any dirty parts. We having parts of us that still flare in anger during traffic; parts that we have been slow to turn over to you; parts that entertain lustful thoughts. God, to be honest, we're scared at the thought of what you might find, but these things keep us from a closer relationship with you. Find them, Holy Spirit, and yank them out by the roots. Help us to be obedient in opening ourselves up to your correction, and help us to immerse ourselves in you every day to prevent these dark parts of our hearts from growing back. We love you, Jesus, and we want to be more like you. Thank you for walking right beside us, every step of the way. God, Protect Us After Victory
Lord, when we celebrate a victory with you, that's when Satan would like to swoop in and steal the victory from us. We are so afraid of being complacent. We need you, Jesus. We can't live by ourselves. We cling to you. We don't want to be lax in our relationship with you. Protect us from temptation. If we're attacked by Satan, help us to remember to respond in the Spirit by dropping to our knees and recognizing the situation for what it is rather than just falling into despair. Lord, You're Beautiful
Dear Jesus., you are so beautiful. Thank you for your grace that abounds in our lives. Thank you for the blessings that you give to us so bountifully. Thank you for your help this week.Father, we ask for your help with our government. It seems that we've entered turbulent times. Give our leaders wisdom to do the right things with their power. We ask that lies and corruption would be brought to light.
We ask a special blessing on the troops in Iraq. We don't want this to be a dark mark on American history. Work a miracle over there, Father.
We love you, Lord. As we go into the weekend, remove any obstacles that would keep us from your house. Prepare a special time of fellowship between you and your children. We ask that your Holy Spirit would be thick in our churches this weekend. Heal people, Father. Loose people in bondage.
