Agreement in Prayer

In Matthew 18:18-19 Jesus says, "'Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven. 19 Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. 20 For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.'"  We invite you to regularly agree with us in prayer so that our prayers are more effective. The reality is that when you read our prayers here and pray with us at home on your own, you are agreeing with us in prayer. However, if you post your prayer on our site, other people can agree with you in prayer, and in that way, we can gather together online. Thanks ahead of time for your prayers.

God, we're so excited for life - it's an excitement that comes from the joy of knowing you. There's really no specific thing that we're excited about except to see what you're going to do next. You're so amazing. We see your hands in all things. You are sovereign.

Lord, continue to draw us closer to you. In all circumstances, we will seek you and serve you. We love you, Father.

Daily Prayer, Thursday, December 29, 2005

Purify our hearts, Jesus. Make us better instruments for your use. Remove the impurities that make people question, "Well if that's what a Christian's like, then what's the big deal?" We want your holiness to set us apart from the world for your glory.

Holy Spirit, we ask that you would stir the hearts of those around us who don't know Jesus. Show them the emptiness of life without you. Inspire our words and bolster our courage so that we will speak to them about Jesus when the opportunity arises. We want to live for you, Jesus. We can't image living any other way, and we want other people to share in that joy and peace. We love you, Lord. Let everything we do glorify your name.

Thank you for a wonderful Christmas, Jesus. As we approach New Year's, prepare our hearts to go into 2006 with boldness and dedication to your will like we've never had before. Holy Spirit use us. We're turning over the wheel to you, God. We are your servants. Yes, we are your slaves. Daily Prayer, Thursday, December 22, 2005

Good Morning, Jesus! We're so thankful for this day. Give us boldness, energy, and wisdom to go out into the world and do your will. Give us courage to share our faith at work. Teach us to pray without ceasing, so that we talk to you all day long, just like a friend that we're hanging out with all day. Holy Spirit, help us to do away with any distorted views that we might have of who you are. You're not an ethereal mist. You're not waiting for us to sin so that you can zap us with a lightning bold. Thank you, Father, that you're a loving God, and that you do seek friendship with us. We praise you for always being there for us.

Now Father, let us put ourselves where we belong - at your feet in worship, in the field, executing your orders. We just want to make you proud. We love you so much.

Father, thank you for this day. Thank you for the anticipation in the air at this time of year. We treasure Christmas time. Bring families together to praise your name and give thanks for the gift of your only Son.

Lord, continue to show us opportunities to share our faith in why we celebrate Christmas. Make this Christmas a sensitive part of our hearts, so that we can't bear to talk about Christmas without uttering the name of Jesus. We don't want it to be just about lights and trees and gifts this year. Daily Prayer, Tuesday, December 13, 2005

Be Lord over every aspect of our lives, Jesus. Use us to do your will on this earth. We don't want our relationship with You to be all about us God. We lay all of ourselves at your feet. We want to use what you have given us to worship you.

Let our finances, our marriages, our job - all of it, be pleasing to you, Jesus. You're the only one that makes it all worthwhile. Life has meaning in you. Help us to spread your truth, freedom, and meaning to those around us. Holy Spirit, make it a natural thing for us - not something that we have to feel "lead" to do. Give us your timing, your words, and your heart to share Jesus with the world.

Help to read your Bible every day. It's a tough thing for us to remember to do, and it takes spiritual commitment to make it worthwhile. Reading you Bible for no other reason than that you know that you should isn't going to help you grow with God. Ask the Lord to give you a desire and a hunger to learn more about Him, and then, sitting down, in a quiet place to read His Word, ask Him to reveal himself to you through the scripture that you read. Ask Him to show you how alive the Bible is. Make reading the Bible into a dialogue between you and God. When you find that piece of scripture that speaks to your heart, worship Him right then and there. Thank Him for what he's shown you. When you don't understand what you're reading, or if you're struggling with it, ask for His help, and tell Him how you're feeling. Then listen, and keep reading. God will answer prayer.

Daily Prayer, Friday, December 09, 2005

Lord, it's amazing how many ways the Deceiver, Satan, tries to inch his way into people's lives. We pray against his presence on the Internet. So many people who are already hurting, are searching for answers on the Internet, and they end up finding Satan's lies instead. Or they find smut and may become entangled in that. We pray against websites that worship other gods, or promote idolatry or other religious lies.

Father, guide these people to websites that tell the truth about who You are, and how you can heal their hurts. It doesn't have to be Given Life, God. We just want these people to come to you. Pursue people with the Internet, God. Thank you for your faithfulness. We love you, Jesus.

Daily Prayer, Thursday, December 08, 2005

Father, teach us to love one another with your unconditional love. Help us to put ourselves aside, and to stop judging other people. Holy Spirit, fill us with compassion for others. They are as precious to you as we are. Fill our hearts with that empathy, so that we react to them out of a heart restored by You. Chisel away the layers of sarcasm and scorn that the world has build around our hearts. We despise some of the things that we say and do on a regular basis when we allow ourselves to be ruled by the flesh and worldly motivations.

God, the world would shun this idea of replacing ourselves with yourself, because the world is so proud of independence and self-motivation. Lord, we know better. We've seen what we can do, and it makes us sick. Take over, Jesus. We want to live You-centered lives. We want You, Lord! We want to be more like You!

Daily Prayer, Sunday, December 04, 2005

Lord, thank you for another week. Christmas is coming so quickly, but we are celebrating the birth of our Savior even now. Thank you for loving us so much that you would send your Son to be born as a human being, knowing the sorrows, pain, and ultimate sacrifice that was before Him.

Father, let us cast our cares at the Savior's feet. So many of us carry the extra burden of worry. It's a yoke of slavery, and we need you to free us from it. Your Word commands, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done" (Php 4:6 NLT). Holy Spirit, soften our hearts so that we can lay down our frantic reliance upon ourselves, and instead become dependent on You. Remind us to pray about everything - teach us the truth about that statement. We pray against the spirit of legalism right now because the Deceiver would certainly like to twist this word into a lie of bondage. God, we just want to talk to you about everything, and especially when we have a big decision to make or a crisis (big or small) in our lives, help us to trust You to answer prayer. We love you, Jesus.

Daily Prayer, Friday, December 02, 2005

Lord, today we pray for your healing touch. Whether we're sick with the flu, struggling with ongoing illness, or recovering from injury or surgery, Father we ask for your supernatural healing in our lives. Your word says that we are fearfully and wonderfully made. Part of that miracle is our bodies. Even thought these fleshly vessels are only our temporary bodies, they're so amazing, and you created them! Jesus, you conquered death, and you can conquer our ailments too.

We especially pray against cancer in our bodies. The word "cancer" inspires a lot of fear in us, Jesus. We need your comforting Spirit as much as we need your healing power. You are the most skilled surgeon in the universe, God. Move your healing hand over our bodies. In faith, Lord, we ask for a miracle, and in faith, we know that even if the cancer remains or comes back, we don't need to fear what happens next.

In you Lord, we have all hope. Help us to rely on you for strength while our earthly bodies are weak. When we have nothing left in the flesh to do but despair, Holy Spirit, beckon us to your lap, and let us come to you as an injured child in need of their daddy. Comfort and heal us, Jesus. We love you so much. Thank you for taking care of your children.

Daily Prayer, Thursday, December 01, 2005

Father, thank you for this fresh December day. As the year is coming to a close, we want to thank you again for the blessings of 2005. Thank you for the trials that you have used for the good of those who love you.

Today, we ask for a special blessing for Israel. Continue to cover those people with your protection. We ask that no country would be allowed to impinge upon Israel's sovereignty over the land that you have given to her people. Your word says that you will bless those who bless Israel and curse those who threaten her. They are your chosen people.

Lord, we pray for wisdom in our country's leaders, that they would never side with Israel's enemies. Let the U.S. be a blessing to Israel.

The next President of the United States of America. Pray that he is a Believer. If he doesn't know Jesus, pray that he will get to know Jesus before he enters office. In this time before he is elected, ask the Lord to draw him closer to God, and to strengthen his moral convictions. Pray that the new president will have a clean heart when he enters office, and that he will live with God's righteousness throughout the length of his term.
