Help to read your Bible every day. It's a tough thing for us to remember to do, and it takes spiritual commitment to make it worthwhile. Reading you Bible for no other reason than that you know that you should isn't going to help you grow with God. Ask the Lord to give you a desire and a hunger to learn more about Him, and then, sitting down, in a quiet place to read His Word, ask Him to reveal himself to you through the scripture that you read. Ask Him to show you how alive the Bible is. Make reading the Bible into a dialogue between you and God. When you find that piece of scripture that speaks to your heart, worship Him right then and there. Thank Him for what he's shown you. When you don't understand what you're reading, or if you're struggling with it, ask for His help, and tell Him how you're feeling. Then listen, and keep reading. God will answer prayer.

Meditating on His grace today. Romans 6:14 says, "Sin is no longer your master, for you are no longer subject to the law, which enslaves you to sin. Instead, you are free by God's grace" (NLT). That verse means that we are no longer condemned to eternal death when we accept Jesus' give of forgiveness, and it also means that by God's grace, we can live freely in His will without being bound to our sinful nature. Father, let us cast our cares at the Savior's feet. So many of us carry the extra burden of worry. It's a yoke of slavery, and we need you to free us from it. Your Word commands, "Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done" (Php 4:6 NLT). Holy Spirit, soften our hearts so that we can lay down our frantic reliance upon ourselves, and instead become dependent on You. Remind us to pray about everything - teach us the truth about that statement. We pray against the spirit of legalism right now because the Deceiver would certainly like to twist this word into a lie of bondage. We especially pray against cancer in our bodies. The word "cancer" inspires a lot of fear in us, Jesus. We need your comforting Spirit as much as we need your healing power. In faith, Lord, we ask for a miracle, and in faith, we know that even if the cancer remains or comes back, we don't need to fear what happens next.
